Sun and UV check for outdoor crews

On bright workdays, the crew gets a short UV heads-up: peak hours, shade, SPF 30+, hat and sunglasses, reapply after heavy sweat.

What it does

Outdoor work raises the risk of sunburn and skin cancer, and UV is strongest roughly 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., even on cloudy days. CDC/NIOSH advice for outdoor workers is simple: shade and indoor breaks when you can, sunscreen SPF 30+ (about 1 ounce, 20 minutes before you go out, reapply at least every 2 hours and after heavy sweat), a wide-brim hat, and sunglasses that block nearly all UV. Your bot pairs with the heat and storm checks: on sunny or high-UV forecast days it texts the crew a short morning reminder, and can note reflecting surfaces like light sand. Roofers, landscapers, road crews, utility techs and anyone on a hot roof or open site get the most out of it. It's a reminder, not medical advice.

Copy-paste prompt

Be our crew sun and UV checker, using CDC/NIOSH sun-exposure advice for outdoor workers.

Every workday at [6:00 AM], check the forecast for [job site town or ZIP]. If it's a bright, sunny, or high-UV day (or thin clouds that still burn), send my crew group [chat/text group name] a short message:
1. Peak UV window today is about 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (UV can still burn on cloudy days).
2. Shade: use [truck / canopy / building] for breaks when we can. Employers should provide shaded or indoor break areas when possible.
3. Sunscreen: SPF 30 or higher, about a shot-glass worth (1 ounce) on exposed skin 20 minutes before we start; reapply at least every 2 hours and after heavy sweat. Cover ears, neck, lips, tops of feet and backs of hands. Toss sunscreen older than about 1-2 years.
4. Clothes: wide-brim hat (not just a baseball cap), tightly woven clothing, and sunglasses with nearly 100% UV protection (side panels help).
5. If someone gets a bad burn (blisters, fever over 101°F, severe pain past 48 hours, or they're dehydrated), they should seek medical care. Don't give medical advice beyond that.

On low-sun winter or heavy-rain days, send nothing. Keep it under 7 lines. Base tips on CDC/NIOSH outdoor-worker sun exposure guidance. Never buy supplies or message anyone outside the crew for me.
