Make a family plan for fake emergency calls
A one-page plan for "I'm in trouble, send money" calls, including AI voice clones: hang up, call back, check with family.
What it does
No bot required. Scammers can copy a loved one's voice from a short clip posted online, then call saying they're in jail, in a wreck or stranded, need money right now, and you can't tell anyone. The FTC's advice is simple: don't trust the voice, hang up, call the person back on a number you already know, and check with another family member. Paste this into any chat AI and it writes a calm one-page family plan to print or share: who calls whom, which payment requests are always a scam, and a spot for a private question or code phrase you pick together. Pick the code phrase offline and never type it into the AI.
Copy-paste prompt
No bot needed: paste this into Grok, ChatGPT, or Claude.
Help me make a simple family plan for fake emergency calls and messages (like a grandchild "in jail," or a voice that sounds like my kid asking for money). Who's on the plan: [e.g. me, my spouse, our parents, our teens]. Use first names or roles only. Using the FTC's family emergency scam advice, write a one-page plan in plain, easy-to-read language: 1. Warning signs: it's urgent, you're "the only one who can help," keep it secret, and pay right now by wire, gift card, crypto or a payment app. 2. What to do: don't trust the voice or the caller ID. Hang up, or say "I'll call you right back." Call the person on a number you already have. If you can't reach them, call [backup person], even if the caller said not to. 3. A promise line: we will never ask each other for emergency money by gift card, wire, crypto, or a stranger picking up cash. 4. A blank line for our family's code question or phrase. Explain how to pick a good one (nothing on social media, like a pet's name or hometown), but don't suggest one and don't ask me what it is. 5. Where to report it: ReportFraud.ftc.gov and our state attorney general. 6. A 3-line version I can text to the family. Keep it calm, not scary, and under one page.
