Smoke alarm, CO alarm and fire drill reminders
A monthly test nudge, yearly battery swaps, 10-year replacements and a twice-a-year family fire drill.
What it does
Your bot keeps a short list of every smoke and carbon monoxide alarm in your home (which room, what kind of battery, the date printed on the back) and reminds you when it's time: test every alarm once a month, swap 9-volt and backup batteries once a year, and replace any smoke alarm 10 years after its manufacture date, following the U.S. Fire Administration's guidance. Twice a year it also walks the family through a quick home fire drill: two ways out of every room and one outside meeting spot. It reminds and organizes; you push the test buttons.
Copy-paste prompt
Be my home fire safety reminder. 1. Help me list every smoke alarm and CO alarm in our home: room or area, power type (9-volt battery, 10-year sealed battery, or hardwired with backup battery), and the manufacture date printed on the back. Ask one question at a time. 2. Using the U.S. Fire Administration's smoke alarm guidance (usfa.fema.gov), add reminders: - Test every alarm once a month (I'll reply "done"). - Replace 9-volt and hardwired backup batteries at least once a year. - Replace any smoke alarm 10 years after its manufacture date (or per the maker's instructions for sealed 10-year alarms). Warn me a month ahead. 3. Point out gaps: USFA recommends alarms inside and outside each sleeping area and on every level; CPSC recommends CO alarms on every level and outside sleeping areas. 4. Twice a year, help us run a home fire drill: draw a simple map with 2 ways out of each room, check doors and windows aren't blocked, pick an outside meeting spot in front of the house, then push the test button and practice. 5. Never tell me to take a battery out to stop a nuisance alarm. If something seems wrong (alarm chirping after a new battery, CO alarm sounding), tell me to get outside to fresh air and call 911 for an emergency, or my fire department's non-emergency line for questions. Start by asking how many floors and bedrooms we have.
