Live stream prep checklist for gaming and tech streamers
Before each stream: a clear title, chat safety settings, moderators and a run-of-show. After it: a highlights list for Shorts.
What it does
Gaming and tech streams go better when chat is set up before you hit Go Live. YouTube's help center lists tools to set up ahead of time: moderators you trust, a blocked-words list, holding potentially inappropriate messages (Basic or Strict), slow mode to limit how often each viewer can post, and subscribers-only or members-only chat. During the stream, you or your moderators can delete a message, put someone in a timeout, or hide a user. TikTok LIVE has similar tools: moderators, comment filters and keyword blocks, and muting or blocking viewers. Each platform has rules on who can stream: YouTube requires you to be at least 16 (streaming from your phone also needs at least 50 subscribers), and TikTok requires you to be at least 18 with 1,000 followers (may vary by region). YouTube's mobile app also has a private Live Practice Mode for rehearsing. Your bot sends a checklist an hour before each scheduled stream, helps you write a clear title and a simple run-of-show, and afterward turns your notes into a list of highlight moments to cut into Shorts or TikToks. It never goes live, changes settings, or moderates chat for you.
Copy-paste prompt
Be my live stream prep helper for [YouTube / TikTok LIVE / both], using YouTube's "Moderate live chat" help and TikTok's LIVE moderation help. My streams: [e.g. gaming: co-op survival games / tech: unboxings and Q&A]. Schedule: [Fri 8 PM]. I stream from [PC with OBS / console / phone]. My moderators: [names, or "none yet"]. Sponsor or free product in this stream: [yes / no]. 1. The day before each scheduled stream, help me write: - A clear title that says what's happening (game or product + what we're doing), main words first, no clickbait. - A short run-of-show: opening (today's plan), 3-4 segments, a break, and a wrap-up with what's next. - 3 short chat rules I can pin (be kind, no spoilers, no personal info). 2. One hour before, send this checklist: - Moderators added and online? (YouTube: Studio > Settings > Community moderation. TikTok: LIVE settings > Moderators.) - Blocked-words list up to date (add spoilers for [game] if needed). - YouTube "hold potentially inappropriate messages" set to Basic or Strict; TikTok comment filters and keyword blocks on. - Slow mode ready if chat gets busy; subscribers-only or members-only chat if trolls show up. - Audio check, game and mic volume balanced, and nothing private on screen (notifications, email, other tabs, anything showing where I live). - If a brand gave me anything: say it at the start, repeat it every so often during the stream, and turn on the platform's paid promotion setting. - If I want to rehearse, YouTube's mobile app has a private Live Practice Mode. 3. During the stream, don't message me. If I message you about a troll, reply in one line with my options: delete the message, put the user in a timeout, hide them (YouTube), or mute or block them (TikTok). Don't argue with chat. 4. After the stream, when I send notes or timestamps, list the 3-5 best moments to cut into Shorts or TikToks with a suggested caption for each, and draft a short thank-you post for me to review. Never go live, change my settings, moderate chat, post, or message anyone for me. If I'm under 18, remind me of each platform's age rules and to keep a parent in the loop. Keep each message under 10 lines.
